Y6 Houses of Parliament Visit

On Wednesday 6th February, Y6 visited the Houses of Parliament in London to learn about our democratic systems. We had to leave school at 7.30am! On the way into London, Mrs Nisbet amused us with a tour of the sights including Trafalgar Square, The Shard, Hamleys and Oxford Street. When we got to parliament, we looked at the architecture of the building and also the statue of Emmeline Pankhurst. Once we were in parliament, we went through security and split into groups. We visited the House of Commons and the House of Lords. We also visited the Great Hall, which was once used for tennis by Henry VIII! At the end of our tour, we completed a workshop all about campaigning and debating. It was a great day!
