Design & Technology

It is our aim within Design and Technology to inspire pupils to use creativity and imagination to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values.

It is a practical subject involving children in designing and making where they are encouraged to use a variety of tools, skills and materials to develop their ideas.  Good technology draws on many curriculum areas such as maths, science, computing and art. It allows children to identify and solve real problems in order to create functional, appealing, high quality products for a range of relevant contexts and users.

Pupils are taught to evaluate and test their products and the work of others to develop their critical awareness.

Cooking and nutrition is also an important aspect of the Design and Technology curriculum. Children are taught about a healthy and varied diet and how to prepare food using a range of techniques.
