Pupil leadership roles

Every child at our school is encouraged to develop their leadership skills and make a positive contribution to our school community. We believe that pupil leadership helps children build confidence, responsibility, teamwork and a sense of pride in their school.

Throughout the school, pupils have the opportunity to apply for and take on a range of leadership roles, ensuring that their voices are heard and that they play an active part in shaping school life.

House Captains and Vice Captains

Our House Captains and Vice Captains are excellent role models who help to promote teamwork, school spirit and healthy competition. They encourage pupils to participate in house events, support younger children and represent their houses during whole-school activities and celebrations.

School Council

The School Council provides pupils with a voice in school decision-making. Representatives from each class meet regularly to discuss ideas, share the views of their classmates and work with staff to make improvements to the school environment and pupil experience.

Eco Council

Our Eco Council leads initiatives to help protect the environment and promote sustainability. Members encourage environmentally friendly practices across the school, organise projects and campaigns, and help pupils understand their role in caring for the world around them.

Librarians

School Librarians play an important role in fostering a love of reading. They help to organise and maintain our library spaces, recommend books to their peers and support younger readers in discovering new authors and stories.

Play Leaders

Our Play Leaders help to create positive and inclusive playtimes. They organise games and activities, encourage participation and support younger pupils to make friends, ensuring breaktimes are enjoyable for everyone.

Mental Health Ambassadors

The Mental Health Ambassadors promote wellbeing across the school. They help raise awareness of positive mental health, encourage kindness and inclusion, and support initiatives that help all pupils feel safe, valued and understood.

KiVa Anti-Bullying Team

Our pupil KiVa Anti-Bullying Team supports the school's commitment to creating a safe and respectful environment for everyone. Team members help promote positive relationships, raise awareness of bullying prevention strategies and encourage pupils to speak up if they have concerns.

Reading Ambassadors

Our Reading Ambassadors are enthusiastic readers from our junior classes who help to inspire a love of reading across the school. They regularly spend time reading with younger pupils in the infant classes, helping to build confidence, fluency and enjoyment of books. Through positive relationships and shared reading experiences, Reading Ambassadors act as role models, encouraging younger children to develop lifelong reading habits.

Developing Future Leaders

These leadership opportunities allow pupils to develop important life skills including communication, organisation, teamwork, problem-solving and resilience. Whether supporting younger readers, promoting wellbeing, caring for the environment or representing their peers, our pupil leaders demonstrate responsibility and commitment while making a meaningful contribution to school life.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, commitment and positive example shown by all of our pupil leaders. Their contributions help make our school a welcoming, inclusive and successful community where everyone can thrive.
