The Eco-council is a group of children who are helping our school become more environmentally aware and eco-friendly. Our Eco-council consists of representatives from Key Stage 1 and each Key Stage 2 class and together we think about how we may look after the environment, our school and its grounds.
We are lucky that our school has lovely grounds, wild areas and garden space. Our Green Team work hard to encourage and organise our recycling and to ensure that we don’t have a litter problem outside. But we can do more!
Each class has a ‘Switch off Sheriff’ to make sure:-
- that there is someone to switch off the lights when we leave the classroom
- that outside doors are closed at the end of breaks and during break times
- that computers are switched off when we leave the class
Each week the Power Savers announce the most successful class in the whole school assembly on Fridays . There is fierce competition between each class! We have managed to reduce our electricity bills since the introduction of this monitoring , so we are doing our best to save energy!
